OLIBS EWES

High health. Top Performance. Ease of Management. Proven Genetics.

There are several advantages to investing in OLIBS replacement ewes:

There are sheep that give you litters of lambs accompanied by stressful management and there are sheep that produce a dismal amount of singles. OLIBS ewes provide commercial producers with balanced, consistent performance. OLIBS senior ewes wean 2 or 3 lambs in season.

OLIBS is a maternal composite breed which enables us to maximize heterosis and hybrid vigour. Ongoing genetic advancement is achieved through sire referencing. With the use of A.I. and embryo transplants our commitment to use the very best genetics in the world is fulfilled.

OLIBS ewes exceed the highest level of health available from the Ontario Sheep Health Program. Not only do OLIBS ewes have a Level 1 health certificate and an “A” status on the Maedi Visna project (ie. MV free) but OLIBS ewes are also vet certified free of Johne’s, Caseous Lymphadenitis, Chlamydial Abortion, Footrot and Scrapie. OLIBS ewes have the potential to greatly lower your flock depreciation costs.

OLIBS ewes are managed within an RFID system which enables us to collect accurate and detailed data of the individual animal. With the use of this data, and the Sheep Flock Improvement Program, the elite OLIBS ram lambs and ewe lambs are retained to produce the next generation of OLIBS ewes.

OLIBS ewes are excellent mothers that milk well producing many kilograms of lamb per ewe.

OLIBS ewes are a medium body size for the best feed efficiency of kilograms of lamb weaned per ewe.

OLIBS ewes have excellent longevity.

Using OLIBS ewes with our health matched Texel terminal sires produces fast growing, well muscled, quality lambs that lamb buyers pay a premium for.

Large numbers of uniform OLIBS replacement females are available.

Customers

Just a short note that lambing is going very well. I have 32 out of the older batch lambed with 56 lambs now ten days old and older. I lost 3 lambs due extreme cold weather in Jan but otherwise things are going well. I am very pleased with the mothering and milking of the (OLIBS) ewes. So obviously the (Texel) ram is working.
