| The
flock is winter housed in greenhouse structures with the capacity to house
1200 breeding ewes. These greenhouses provide a bright and healthy environment
for the sheep during the winter months. During the summer months, they
are closed up and the heat is an excellent sterilizer of pathogens. The
renovated bank barn is a 700 lamb capacity, slated floor, feeder barn.
Animals are housed on the upper floor with 8' side curtains running the
entire east and west side. Lambs are penned in groups of 65 and sorted
by weight and sex. Feeding is a fully automated, whole grain ration. The
basement below serves as a dry manure storage area with cross-pit ventilation. |
