The high tensile, page-wire, perimeter fence is 32" high with two electric wires on top giving a total height of 48", and stand off wires 6" from the ground on the outside. Main internal field fences are 6 wire +/- 12 gauge high tensile electric fence. Fields are split into subdivision strips 150' wide with 4 wire, 16 gauge temporary electric fencing. The front and backstrip fences are 150' bundles of electrified netting. Temporary, Ridley Rappa electric fences can be used on cropping residues and catch crops. All permanent fence lines are sprayed with Round Up annually to minimize voltage loss.

Guard Llamas (click for larger)

Guard Llamas are used as back-up predator control should  any predators make it through the electric fence system. All  Llamas on the farm were quarantined for 6 months and blood  tested in accordance with the Ontario Sheep Health Program.  The intensive rotational grazing system makes it easier for  the Llamas to patrol over a smaller area. It also makes it  nearly impossible for predators to pick off stragglers and  lambs that have wandered away from the safety of the flock.
